Driveway Gates

A driveway gate is the first thing people see when they pull up to your home, so it should leave a positive impression. We design and install custom gates in Charlotte that provide security without sacrificing your house’s personality.

We offer:

  • Custom-forged iron swing gates

  • Cantilever sliding gate systems

  • Modern wood-and-metal hybrids

  • Bi-parting estate gates

What is a cantilever gate?

A cantilever gate “hangs” over the driveway and moves sideways without the need for a track on the ground. This is perfect for Charlotte driveways with gravel or uneven dirt where a ground track would constantly get clogged with debris. It is a smooth, quiet, and extremely reliable way to move a heavy gate.

Should my gate swing in or out?

Standard practice is to have the gate swing inward toward your property so it doesn’t block the street or public sidewalk. If your driveway has a steep uphill slope, we may suggest a sliding gate or an outward swing if space allows. We will measure your clearance to make sure the gate doesn’t hit your bumper or the bushes.

What is the best wood for a driveway gate?

If you want that warm wood look, Western Red Cedar or Ipe are the gold standards for our climate. These woods handle the humidity well and look beautiful when stained to match your home’s trim. We build them on a steel frame so the wood doesn’t sag or warp over time.

How wide should my driveway gate be?

A standard single gate is usually twelve feet wide, which is plenty for most cars and SUVs. If you have delivery trucks or campers coming through, we recommend moving up to a fourteen or sixteen-foot opening. We want to make sure you can pull in comfortably without sweating about your side mirrors.

Can you match my gate to my existing fence?

Absolutely, as we specialize in custom welding and fabrication to ensure a perfect match. Whether you have an existing stone wall or a simple picket fence, we can design a gate that looks like it was part of the original plan. We take pride in making the new gate look like it has always belonged there.

Sawyer Christian with Grafted LLC did an outstanding job repairing my split rail fence in multiple locations and upgrading my main gate entrance to a self-closing gate. These repairs were crucial for passing my final pool inspection, and Sawyer delivered exactly what I needed.
